Love the jacket, great quality was exactly what I was looking for, but finding the correct size was difficult. I have a thick chest, most items I get are either XL or XXL depending on the company making it. XL was to small, XXL fit great everywhere but my chest. When zipped up it was uncomfortable to wear. After searching for a week because of low supplies, I finally found a XXXL, it fits perfect around the chest with a some room to even wear a sweatshirt underneath, but the sleeves are long and it baggy everywhere else. Love the coat so went with the XXXL would rather it be baggy than uncomfortable.I got this for my husband's birthday. He loves it and a true fit.I wear a 2XL or 2XL big/tall in every Carhartt item I own (jackets, coats, shirts, etc.). I actually ordered a 2XL and a 2XL big/tall with the intent of keeping the one that fit best and returning the other. Neither fit well. They were ok through the midsection and ok on length, but the shoulders and arms were too tight. I returned both and exchanged for a 3XL. It was better, but still too tight through the shoulders and arms. Again, the midsection and length were good, but the shoulders and sleeves are cut too narrow. It's a shame, too. It seems to be a VERY well made jacket, and it looks good, too. Just didn't work because of the odd cut.I bought the jacket for my husband, to get him to change up the CarHart sweat zip up he wears out to dinner! This jacket takes his wardrobe up a notch, in class and he loves it!First of all, this is a great coat. Against my better judgement, I read the reviews and ordered a size up with people saying it was a “slimmer cut”. Don’t do it. I wear a large in just about all “regular” cut/style items. I’m 5’11” and about 220lbs, average build with some added pandemic pounds but no beer belly. The XL was absolutely gigantic. Finally -- a solidly-built, weather-resistant shell for the larger person. For years I purchased "big name" brands (in my 2X days) from a favorite outdoor retailer. No regrets - I've had great experiences with those, but the trade-off was always price -- so much of the cost for those "professional" pieces is added-on to cover huge marketing budgets, over-hyped tech and pro athlete endorsements that it seems like the actual cost should be about 1/3rd or 1/4 of the full retail price. This Carhartt softshell is supremely solid -- it's built like a tank, it feels weighty, sturdy, durable and entirely competent when I tried it on the first time. I was blown away by how much more robust the fabric, lining, and construction are and the perceived value compared to those high-tech garments that cost twice what this does. Water resistance is on-par with a full-on waterproof rain jacket without the claminess. If I lived somewhere it rains a lot I'd have ordered with the hood, but for California weather this one is a winner. Ski-able, take it out on the ocean fishing or sailing in confidence, hang Christmas lights in the rain - whatever. The ONE and ONLY characteristic I noticed is how "audible" the fabric is -- this isn't a quiet softshell by any means, so if you're looking for something really soft and quiet there are probably better choices. The exterior shell is as noisy as a heavier DWP-treated nylon.Highly recommended for quality, construction and heavy-duty use.I bought this coat for my boyfriend in the tamarac color and he absolutely LOVES IT. It has a slimmer fit than traditional Carhartt coats but still fits his measurements. It has a rugged soft-shell type of exterior and is fleece lined on the inside. It looks awesome. Can be dressed up or down. This jacket fits well, looks good but is a little stiff. I am hoping that it softens after the first washing.as usual great product from Carhartt, you never go wrong with there stuff, someone wrote in a review the color was not right or not as pictured ,i love the color, I can where it out to the stores or to a gun range,it looks great, good price alsoFits large. Very nice coat. worth every penny buy it you’ll love it!!Can't go wrong with legitimate carhartt gearBought this 'tall' coat, and it is way too short, unwearable!6"4 225lbs. Large tall - perfect fit.
